What I sold this Week 6/20 thru 6/26

Sold this. Listed it in the afternoon, sold around midnight when I woke up from a crazy dream and J asking me if someone had broken into the house. He has these hallucinations. When he is dreaming he can not separate the dream from reality. I had the offer for 28$ asking 35$ but I took it. WTH. It was in a lot and I need to recoup some of that disastrous lot!!   .

Miss Frankie Stein sold within minutes of listing at full asking price. I think I listed too low maybe?  40$ The other three Gloom Beach Monster Highs have not sold. Maybe I need to revisit the listings.

The fishing lures! I got them for 30 bucks (and something else, can't remember now!). I have had excellent luck with lures. I listed another lot  that sold for 20$. This is the second lot of three and I sold it for 15$ I'm not greedy and I have at least 6 - 10 more lots to go. Every time I see vintage lures I try and snag them. Sometimes they go too high and I pass, but these I got for 6$ per flat. I got 4 flats.

The Joan Rivers Earrings which I took the best offer on in a 24 hour period. I have been sitting on them for a long time! Maybe over a year. I got them at my absolute on line auction which no longer operates (sadly) and sold the bracelets immediately and then began to piece the earrings out and sold one pair earlier in the year. I lotted 3 pair a few weeks ago and they sold at asking price. I could have waited, but my sales have sucked this month! I've made excellent ROI but my volume is way down. So I sold.

Indiana Glass Fairy Lamp picked up last week-end at the enormous yard sale for a lot of items $15. Listed for 55$ sold for 40 maybe (can't remember, taking prevegen knock off to help! lol) Sold very quickly. Once again could have held out, but for around 3 bucks, once again, I'm not greedy. let her go! The woman also gave me a tip on how to get the melted candle wax out. Soak in hot/warm water. Worked! Who knew! Apparently not me.

Then this guy, the White horse head with a small chip in the base which you can see in the pic. Sold him for 22$ and once again glad to recoup some money from this disastrous buy from an outfit in Nowhere land Indiana. But, I do have a nice vase I have not listed yet, so I'm sure it will be profitable. But, by purchasing stuff without knowing the seller you learn. I will avoid this guy unless they have something terrific!
Sold Egyptian Barbie on Facebook. So no hassle and off she goes! My first sell from the unspeakable 495$ out of my mind auction at the Live Auction House. Those women were crazy. 4 grand for a lot of Cissy clothes? I was damned if I left without what I came for, which this Barbie is not part of that lot, and got into an escalated bidding war with not one but two people. I prevailed, but honestly, I lost. 4 dolls for 225$ plus their premium and sales tax (I may need to get a reselling license). I sold her for 36$

Did sell some other stuff from old inventory, the twinkle lights and the piggy sugar bowl and the Smith and Wesson Holster, which sold for full asking price of 85$

I'm sure it was a good week money wise if not in volume.

A Day at the Auction

It's Tuesday! That means its Auction Day! Usually every other week at 930am the fun begins. After 8 months of not missing one (even thought I only spent an hour or so when Baxter was at the Vet and had to go pick him up) I have to suppose I am now a regular. I'm not a high roller like some, but I do spend.

J went with me this time. More and more he does not like to be home alone. So I took him along for the ride and the excitement. he was excellent, sleeping on and off in the easy chairs lining the auction house waiting their turn on the block which comes after the "smalls". He carried one box of books that I won in a multiples that I did not really want, but I will list them and see how it goes.

The usual suspects were there including Big M, who has been absent due to an illness the last two auctions. Since I am now a "regular" I heard the grumblings that he is back. He helps with the auction and will prowl the offerings and choose what he wants and then usually gets it.

He got a lot I wanted and when I approached to see if it was indeed the lot I wanted he offered to sell me what I wanted out of it. Hurrah! I picked up the snake bottom Murano vase for 5$. Later on I was bidding for a lot of a lot! And he was bidding also. When I figured out who I was bidding against I let it go. I believe he got it for 40$ I asked him if I could buy the elephant (marked Walt Disney). He replied that he bought the lot because of the Elephant and was giving it to a friend in Myrtle Beach who was dying of cancer.

My favorite woman arrived late in the auction but not late enough to miss the good stuff. I finally got over to sit and chat with her and found out she is a Trump Supporter. At first I bit my tongue, but within the minute I remarked that the Repub's were putting their money behind DeSantes and that trump was a has been. I like her a lot and as always wonder how intelligent normal people can back that lunatic. What do they see that I don't see? I have to practice empathy and tap down my repulsion when confronted with trump supporters. I have to struggle to not give my opinion's about his bigotry, misogamy, his lies, his lack of sophistication and education...because they do not see it that way. Examples and facts mean nothing to them because he has convinced them that the media is against him and its all lies. So, I am letting it go and I firmly believe in the greater good and he is really and truly a has been.

I lost the Bob Dylan book because I was moving my loot to a different location so an elderly gentleman could sit down and go through his DVD's. The lot came up and I missed it! I approached the guy who got it and asked if I could buy the book from him. Guess what? It was why he wanted the lot!

Keith was there and asked me if I would allow him to take my winnings to the car and I assured him I would, which I did not. I pulled the car up to the fence and J and I loaded it up. Filled it up too! But afterwards I had Joe go give him 10 bucks. I hailed him to help the old gentleman to his car with his stuff. Cute old Grandpa. I imagine he did not tip Keith.

While getting ready to load, wrapping my figurines in newspaper and boxing it up, one of the regulars a Not a Fan of Big M Club member, asked me if had a booth and nodded towards all my stuff. I told her I did it online and she asked about the hassle of shipping. I explained about Priority Mail and that if I  sold one thing I usually made my money back.

I  overheard another guy state that people do not buy preowned pictures/paintings. I doubt that is true. Always a learning experience and that day was fun, not stressful as some days can be. If I lose something I just calm myself down by knowing it will become available somewhere else someday.

Always.

I love the auction. Spent less than 100 and got some great stuff.

Jackpot!!!

I have had no luck sourcing at garage sales/yard sales. Until yesterday. On my way to UPS I noticed a yard sale on the opposite side of 10th Street. A spectacular Yard Sale. The back yard barn door open and what looked like a plethora of stuff.

I altered my schedule and headed back and was I rewarded? Hell yes.

For 23 bucks I picked up items that I hope will sell for 300 - 400 bucks. Pictures to follow  of the absolute mind blowing haul. And it continues next week, Next week I will have more money.

I found two Royal Dux Bohemi figurines, one a cat and the 2nd  a kneeling nude woman. I can't even begin to price them, because I do not have Worthpoint, but hopefully terapeak will have them. I'm thinking

195$ and 100$

A Calif USA alligator green MSM large ashtray - on ebay now for 85$

A hob nail blue angel lamp. Blue! Not marked but it's blue!! Not amber, not clear! Probably go for 35 - 50$

A porcelain white ceramic SOuthern Belle Planter most likely Hull. Not marked. But 20$

A Kingswood weeping bowl ohat is so awesome! 25$

Next week look out. There were two Murano Snake bottom vases that another woman had already snagged. She was "thinking" about them. If there next week, they are mine!

It's Official Old Buddy, I'm a Has Been

$Yesterday I got a wake up call about aging. I know how we all are! In my minds eye I am still at my prime. I'm young, thin, can run a triathlon without training (I kid you not, did it in 2002, did the swimming on my back. Worst was the 10 mile bike ride, I could barely walk. Running 2 miles was a cake walk...geez almost 20 years ago!). See what I mean. I'm ageless in my head. It's going to be a SHOCK when I kick the bucket.

Yesterday, as is my absurd habit, I cross posted from 2 am until 4 am and then fell asleep on the wrong side on the now lumpy mattress (number bed circa 2005) I share with at least two dogs and when I woke I had a pain in my hip. Like bursitis. Which I have had, when I was running.

Being a sport about pulled muscles, I just popped some Tylenol knock off and went about my business which as of late, has been focusing and obsessing relentlessly about listing. I made my rounds, to Staples to print labels and to the PO and then Fed Ex to drop off my sales from Wednesday. Then to Wallymart for flea and tick medication for the 3 dogs. Avoiding sugar (well, mostly) I grabbed a bag of Cheetos. Had cheetos on the mind and I gobbled up a significant amount before arriving home. Being still hungry, I made a roast beef and swiss cheese sandwich.

About 230 it hit me. I don't know what it was. A combo of ultra bad nutrition and being 68 years old, I suddenly had a pain in my lower abdomen near the hip that I can only describe as appendicitis. It would not quit. It did not make me double over, but it was significant enough that I popped more Tylenol and took to the decrepit bed with a heating pad and the phone to google appendicitis.

It finally abated around 6ish. I have no idea what it could have been. Not appendicitis, wrong side.   I'm thinking some other -itis, an inflammation of some ducts of the intestine from being overweight, no exercise, not enough roughage (fiber) in my diet, old age, and bad bad nutrition (cheetos).

If this is what getting old entails, aches and pains like THAT, well, then bloody hell. Goodbye Cheetos along with the sugar. Hey, maybe my body is revolting against the absence of goodies!

Stream of Consciousness pours from my fingertips.

To continue with the Saga....

I went to the C-wood Honey Hole, which is under new management. I KNEW IT. The place looks like a shadow of its former self. I did manage to find a DVD of the Wizard of Oz, an official 3 disc release sealed,  originally 49.95$ For me???  99 cents.

But that is all I found.

On to another Goodwill on US42 that I had never been to before.  I picked up a pair of Capizio tap shoes, high heel, for 4.49$ Retail around 90$ Look like they were used maybe once. No scuff marks, no bending on the leather. Almost perfect.

I will hopefully flip 6$ in to 70$

I'll let you know.

Overwhelmed

I've definitely overdone it on the sourcing for resale. I suppose I just got over confidant in my ability to source stuff that sells and that I can get it so cheap.

Take for instance the Live Auction House. I go to the preview and when I see something I like I write it down, item number and where it is located in the room. As luck always has it's way, I usually get it. But, the Auction House is notorious for ding multiple lots. Meaning, if I like an item in #8063, they are more than likely to group it with two other boxes and I end up with 3 times what I originally wanted. A set of

blue Chinese Figurines ends up with boxes of clown planters, mugs, and candle holders! A lot of Barbie Christmas Ornaments is lotted up with a box of plushes. But what else so I find wedged down in the plushes? An original signed Statue called Evening Rose that is worth MONEY. Like 200$ My cost, 3 dollars. I kid you not. Six or seven Barbie ornaments and this knock out Statue.

It just needs to find the right home. I have put a BOOST on facebook to see if I can find the right home for it. I got a MALTA knight in one of a multiple lot that I was able to sell for 95$ boosting it on FBMkt.

So, sales have been consistant, maybe one a day. I had several days this week with no sales which concerns me. I believe there are a lot of resellers taking advantage of the free market. Lots of competition as is evident when I go into a Goodwill. Hard to find much of value. I much prefer the auctions.

So I have way too much stuff to list. I need to stop buying so much.

Today I went to Tiny Town and got another load of stuff. A painted Pony, which last week I sold within 24 hours. A tea set and some beer steins. An the major coup, two porcelain Chinese statues. I got into a price war with a woman who I happened to meet when picking up my treasures.

I am overwhelmed by the mountain of stuff I have to list.

So, no more buying....until the next auction and I get the holsters that at the other Auction House.

Do I need an Intervention?

I found yet another Auction House! This one is about 40 minutes away. Out in the country, about 20 miles out towards Cincy. I love this place! Not only is in in FarOut land,  it has awesome stuff. But the best is, they have what they are going to auction off the next week out on display so you can CHECK IT OUT!! No surprises. Believe me, that's a blessing.

So, I am getting a better feel for things. I got this beauty for $20 and just sold for 90$. I got this gorgeous Horse of a Different Color for 10$ and just flipped for 100.

  I'm giddy.

This has continued to be a good week and a good start to the month. I doubt I can compare with last week sales but I am improving my ROI. I may not sell as many items as last week, but that's okay.

Wrapping and shipping is a bitch!
