Old Habits Die Hard

Good News! I found some stuff on Sean's Auction. A Dept 56 Nativity Scene - box is a mess and my husband in a restless Dementia wandering ripped the front of it even more. Torn it off! I will tape it together and cross my fingers. It's what inside the box that matters anyway.

Anyway it seems I have thrown caution to the wind and been eyeballing items on auction sites and I have visited an Estate Sale this morning. 1/2 off and a lot of items left in the house. I will take the guess that there will be a 5$ bag day next week end. I found some Barbie Pink Mules with fluffy feathers. The feathers are moulting a little but I will disclose. Found a signed Aztec vase, a Frankoma sugar and creamer but I left the sugar behind because on inspection at check out it was chipped, a big chip. I found a bottle of perfume well a toilette water, Enduring Innocent - I think. Sell on Merc since they allow used bottle of cologne and E does not. 4 cute Easter Bunny stuff, two small tea pots (one has a chipped on the inside which I will super glue) and a salt and pepper. That's about it.

pics to follow.

Having a very good week end. Have 8 going out tomorrow, six sold yesterday and today.

JACKPOT

A miracle happened Saturday! It was a simple miracle. I was caught between two auctions. One auction was way out in East Jeff Co. and had a plethora of collectibles such as Lladro and such.I mulled it over, when was the last time I sold a Lladro - last summer, the graduate. Since then I have purchased several of them and have not sold another one. I suppose that ship has sailed. The second auction (live) was in downtown Lou in an old hotel in the homeless section of Broadway and 2nd. It was full of toys, in particular Barbies. I noted the Xmas season is upon us and the "toys" would be a much more advisable auction to attend. So I did. I circled the hotel looking for a parking garage and not finding one (I kept driving by on the one way streets) because I am unfamiliar with parking in this area. I drove into the parking lot and secured a spot immediately my reservation calmed by a security guard on location.

The auction was WONDERFUL. I began with a 7.50$ win of two unboxed bobble heads of Kentucky Derby winners, Secretariat and Smarty Jones. I haven't sold one in awhile, Long tail but they will sell and the cost of goods around 2$ is optimal.

I spent around 160$ and so far have recovered my investment and tripled my money.

Cher $10

Black Label Alfred Hitchcock THE BIRDS $5

Twilight $5

Queen of Heart $5

The Barbie Game $5

Cher sold for $120

Queen of Hearts 50$

The barbie Game 100$

The Birds $200

Twilight $50

I almost passed on the Birds but the auctioneer conjouled me into taking it. Am I ever glad.

October another really bad month on a personal level. My tenant bailed from my property in Florida causing me to pay November lot rent, a deposit on the utilities, and a clean up crew at 35$ an hour.

My car got wrecked by an uninsured driver - my bad. I was remiss in not putting her on the policy. Hind sight is 20-20. My car has been out of commision for a month and should be ready tomorrow. In the meantime I have rented a car for the past 3 weeks and have practically deleted my inheritance for the bill that will come due. The estimate was out of this world!

My washing machine broke down from over use and I do not have a spare dime to call the repair man (hell no, I have auctions  to go to!!!). I have been making trips to the laundry mat three times a week because the incontinence problem we have here due to dementia. I should be listing all the other goodies I got at the auction instead of updating. But the good news is the good news..

Better Days to Come

Another fairly crappy month. Everything that could possible go wrong this month went wrong. My excel crashed. My car was smashed by a non insured driver. My tenant at the  mobile home left and I'm stuck with the lot rent again and a 700$ clean up bill.

But on the bright side I did not source much in October and really built up my savings. Which I have quickly deleted.

35 sales for the month. Down 20 from month before.

Belated September Update

Okay this was September which I obviously blew off writing anything about. It looks like I sold 54 items and then I had one return.

Sold a few dolls, jewelry and "other". Dolls and jewelry neck and neck - maybe 19 each.

I'll do better in November. i will post my October sales which were dismal, ebay seems to have forgotten about me. Things picked up this last week.

i was able to get a bunch of money saved up. thank God because disaster stuck last month.
