Long Time

The Corona Virus or Covid-19 has shut down the United States since around St. Patrick's Day. I have been steadily going crazy at home (sheltering) with my mild cognitive impaired husband. No more escape to the movies or the thrift shops or where ever I escaped to. The library. I still have my books and my online shopping, like shopgoodwill, and the auction sites.

My business on Mercari has kept me going to the Fed-Ex to send packages and to print labels. The Staples only had curb side service. What a relife when they re-opened. I'm use to wearing a mask now, though I find that quite a few of my fellow Indiana Hoosier neighbors do not. Going to Walmart is a nightmare. Kroger is better, but not by much. I just wish they required a mask. What the hell are they afraid of? Many places do.

I've been kind of cranky. That is putting it mildly. Too much TV and an inability to concentrate on reading a book. Lord, Ive gone from three books a week to one a month.

And now, we have the George Fulton problem and the Breoonna Taylor problem in Louisville wgich has caused a major revolt and rioting in the streets. Many peaceful protests in all the large cities, but as soon as the sun goes down the crazies and the agitators come out of the shadows. The national guard has been called out and cleared the streets Saturday night. I was too tired of the horror to watch last night, but I'm certain more of the same thing.

It is a reminder of 1968. How old was i? 15. Too young to be interested in politics or the Vietnam War or the politics of LBJ. Body bags, dead soldiers, straights and hippies. Clashes, death on college campuses. Kent State. That was my generation even though I was more interested in getting a job as a life guard at the swimming pool, and in 1968 I was just a kid really. Going to NYC to my cousins wedding, that was the highlight of that year. Reading The World of Henry Orient and beginning to keep a journal, not a diary but a differnt type of hsitorical look at my life. I threw the lions share of the "Bible" in the fire in 1979. What a waste. What an idiot I was. But, I was pregnant, ha ha.

America is changing again. The Baby Boom generation has been in charge since the early 1990's and it is one fucked up mess. The straights took over. Though Clinton did once smoke pot, but did not inhale.

Greed. Getting ahead. Having more than your neighbor. I don't know.

I don't know how we got here but it is an ugly place.

Dumb old Boomer.
